(Joshua Kemp) When i get my custom enclosure in next few weeks ,i would like to some how get the SK2X12V enclosure to you for testing. I dont believe its 2cuft per chamber. It might be tuned at 32 but can hear chuffling on low notes around 30hz. Took few orders to get one not damaged because skar dosent secure the box.they only use a plastic bag and cardboard. Main concern is the box isnt up to specs. Lots of products from skar have multiple spec contradicting each other. For example vxf 12s says one thing on website and the manual say completely different.

Everyone seems to add 45s to corners and other stuff but placement always seems random and many cases where I know a simple horizontal gusset would be more effective

(D Russell) Bro, if you have a Dyno, you should just do a string of videos testing a bunch of different subwoofer ratings. There's a few, here & there, but no one has more than 2 or 3 brands. Like Derek Willingston has tested probably 100 or more amps, that's kinda his thing. Couple subs, but still, not very many. Someone needs to do subs like he does the amps. Big boy gang moves.

(Croissant 🥐) What box would you recommend for 2 12" I have a "Kicker CWR122 (43CWR122)" and a "Kicker CompR (30cm) DVC 4ohm Rohs compliant" I'm not sure why my shop gave me the "CompR" one instead of the same subwoofer which is the "43CWR122" one. I was kinda disappointed because they gave me a sealed enclosure box and I should have done some research before buying it smh because it didn't really feel too different

In your opinion, should i stack the boxs and fire them forward or backwards, or lay them on their backs and fire both up? I dont have the time and effort to build a wall or box big enough and i know the Skar box is built and tuned well for that sub.

(Harold h Pritt jr) Hey they make a box called tubo from nippon the specs for most ten inch woofers ported are like 1.4 ported well the 10 inch tubo is off like it could be a sealed 10 but the 12” tubo is 1.37 ported so if you make a adapter it’s almost perfect port length and area is off by a couple inches each but that close is almost unheard of I think they should sale the boxes with out the hole that way you can cut the size and place you want

(Alec Dent) I don't know about the 5/8ths flexing.. especially if it's door grade MDF or Weyerhaeuser "HDF". I work for a cabinet door company and operate a CNC for MDF doors, end up cutting a lot of boxes in free time. Even had success making structurally sound boxes out of 1/2" LDF with the correct bracing. Anyways, great video. Enjoyed it :)

(Bradley Fulbright) I have 2 of the GSR 12's, they sound beautiful; 1 in 2.5 cuft, tuned port to 32 hz, the other in a 2cuft sealed box in my home theater subcabinet converted from an old console stereo. Powered with 200 watt plate amp, I can feel movies sitting on my back porch. Skar or JL prefab are about the only ones worth buying.

(Murray Sheckleberg) I have the single 12" of the Skar box and was really impressed with it overall when it arrived. Its solid and has a nice kerfed port and the bit of overhang above and below the speaker mount help provide a bit of clearance/protection to the speaker when I need to slide the seat all the way back. I have it in a 90s model extended cab Ranger. It fits with room to spare if you have a Ranger/Mazda Bseries extended cab and were wondering. I couldn't find any info online when I ordered but assumed it would fit one way or another. I could probably fit 2 sitting regular or if I stood them on their side I am almost certain 3 would fit, maybe 4. It stands on its side and stops an inch or two below the rear window which presents some interesting possibilities. The wires are a bit short but manageable and easily replaced if need be. I have had 3 different subs in it with not issues connecting the wires.

(Kenny C) I worked for 9 year at a custom shop and we didn't use MDF, we used Trupan Ultralight and it was a pleasure to work with. The sawdust was like talc and the density was higher but the material was measurably lighter. I always painted bare wood and the inside of enclosures to prevent material "breathing". Have any of you used or tried this material?

(Chris DIYer) I just bought a Concept Enclosures 15" sub box on eBay for my 15" Skar Audio SVR-D4. 4.25 cu ft, 6" front firing port, birch plywood (two layers on the front!). Tuned to 32 Hz. All for under $350 (they let you customize it before ordering). Been doing car/home stereo since the early 1980s. This sub box is incredible...the output is insane. I agree...most of the cheap crap on Amazon isn't worth the cardboard they are packed in. You want deep bass...having more space & tuned porting by pros that know what they are doing is KEY. Concept Enclosures on eBay.

I’m glad I went with the ported 3.5ft.cu. single 12 enclosure. 32hz whould cause some confusion. Says it’s for competition. I have an American Bass sub and a Class- D Mono Block Infinity 1300w amp. So I’m happy you did good things about the box cause I tend to tear stuff up maxxin out. You also might see one of those atrend boxes in a car audio shop as pre fab and I wasn’t sure if the came out of someone’s car at first but they were brand new. So even the pro dealers seem to have some interest in the ATrend brand of pre fab enclosure.

Of airspace in each , And they sound better and hit harder than a enclosures with more airspace !

Every speaker comes with a manual. U need to read it or find the specs. But u can play with the sizes it will calculate the rest. Most boxes tell u in the specs what they are tuned for and the volume. Your honestly better off building or having some one build it for u

(Kswis) Excellent video no doubt. Im currently using the skar box right now. Very little port noise with TONS of low end. I've got 2 evl's in it currently but will be placing 2 vxf's in it soon. The evl's are rated at 1250 watts which for around $100? For the 1k plus sun? That's bananas however it def doesn't handle the power as well as the vxf. That is my favorite sub currently. Good mix of spl and sq. Sorry to ramble I geek out on car audio 24/7

(Dwayne Hendricks) To me, the only true subwoofer, under $5,000.00 was the Muse model 18! 2-inch walls! I'm sure everyone has their 'test' music. For me it's the 1987 BBC version of Enya 'the celts'. Not the the bastardized 1991 re-mastered WEA version. If it has the picture of two dogs onnit, that's the one you want. There are multiple tracksxwith deep bass in it, but on track #14, the Muse was the only sub able to hit it. I just listened to the $2,700 SVS 16 Ultra, and it didn't hit several of the lower notes! Just outta curiosity, what is/are your test tracks? Thanks.

(Hartzal Ray Patterson) Qbomb by Qpower is a really good option as well I use it with 2 15" Kicker Comp C's, and it hits really hard. I'm using a Hifonics 3200 watt Zeus ZRX3216.1 amp. I think it was about 130 bucks for the box after taxes. I do miss the old school bandpass boxes though.

(Matt Wells) I honestly think that first box was tuned even higher, I have a slightly bigger prefab with 3/4 MDF construction, and its port goes along the back wall of each side, and its tuned somewhere between 40, and 45 hz, I know this port will take more airspace out, but based on my old box it seems like itd be tuned closer to 50hz..

(Coolarrow) As far as thin walls, i always line it with fiber glass reinforcement cloth or tape. Then pour in the resin. You would be suprised how a cheap box suddenly becomes a pro box. those walls wont flex if theuy wanted to.

The bass is Absolutely ridiculous on 1500 watts of power. My wife says that the Bass is scary loud.😆😂 I'm ordering 2 American bass 15inch Hawks & a Soundstream Txp. 7k to get a bit louder.

(Ronco160) I'd personally buy the $119 dual-port, separate chamber box on amazon made by American sound connection sold by hi-fi sound connection. great tuning hz in the 30's built with 3/4" mdf. plenty of port for each sub. Skar box specs on internal airspace are before port displacement.

(Manny ETown,KS) I have that exact same skar box for the two twelves and it wouldn't fit my Fosgate P3's but it did fit my two JL W3's and it hit real hard in my 2000 civic Hatch. I had to turn the box the long way to fit though. Tge box was to big for my 08 lexus IS250 and my 09 BMW 328i so i bought a JL slotted port box instead

(Waltzs budgetBumpin) I bought a 15" NVX vcw 15 once and was to impatient to wait till I built a box so to get by I bought a cheapo box and wow it was garbage! It had 1/2" mdf sides and 5/8" baffle I was not happy. So I had some 5/8" chip board took n hour and clad it with that and retuned it to 30 while I was at it, then it was stout. I built a box for that driver later on tho, 3/4 mdf is $40 sheet where I'm at bitch is $90 I think.

The pictures showed a nice, metal, push to connect speaker terminal. On the actual box was a cheap plastic thing that couldn't even fit 12 gauge wires, so I had to change that. #2 The "caulk job" was very sub standard, so I had to re-seal it. #3 It specifically said and showed that it came filled with poly fill. It arrived empty, so I had to run to the craft store. I normally build my own enclosures, but the one for the Ram Crew needs some really complex shapes.

(Stephen Kaiser) Great information for beginners, and someone like myself. 20+ years ago I was building custom enclosures, been a while. I'm getting back into car audio, and the game has changed.

(motoman22atgmail) I got one of those cheap 5/8 prefab dual 10” center-vented boxes for free (exactly like shown at 0:48) I measured and it was 2.5’ cubed internal vented space (raw) with a huge port. The tune was calculated right about 48hz. Safe for most subs but FAR from what I wanted. To get a 36hz tune it needed less port area for the set port length. I reduced the port floor and ceiling distance with scrap, closed off the voided port area front and back, and wrapped it in a layer of 1/2” for rigidity. A free box, a few hours of calculations and cutting/gluing scrap = DEEP bass that sounds great. It can be done if you don’t have time to start from scratch.

(Z Hedge) Port tuning frequency is a meaningless spec though unless it clarifies for which woofer. Every woofer will have different TS parameters, so different woofers will be tuned differently in the same box. Otherwise, every manufacturer would list the same box plans.
